Are you a glass half empty or glass half full kind of person? Whatever you decide it all depends on your perspective. Perspective is how we view any given situation. Our mindset (or perspective) can push us forward or set us back depending on how we view our circumstances.
The difference between an optimist (someone who sees the good)
and a pessimist (someone who sees the bad)
is simply mindset.
If one thinks positively then their life will seem positive. If someone thinks negatively then their life will seem negative. Sounds pretty simple, right? It really is that easy. Mindset determines how we think, feel, and act so by having a more positive outlook on life you will become an all-around happier person.
So you might be thinking, “sounds easy enough” and it really can be that easy. But when times are tough and it’s hard to see the positive in a situation remember to look for the bigger picture. Things won’t stay bad forever and if you stay positive it might seem as though things turn around quicker. It is also important to remember to remain grateful for what you do have.
Focusing on what you do have means you will always have enough. Focusing on what you don’t have means you will never have enough.
Still not convinced positive thoughts can change your perspective. Try helping others. Often times we can get so wrapped up in our own problems that we don’t see others could be struggling much worse than we are. Volunteering can help us have a little more perspective on our situation.
Perspective really does influence how we think, feel and act. It is important that even if we feel like things couldn’t get any worse to focus on the things that have gone well so far.
Staying positive through even the toughest of situations will make you nothing but stronger.
